This note is on their homepage.. must have just added it this morning:
"Our optimism for a November 15th opening hasn’t been supported by Mother Nature. Our first storm in 2 weeks gave us 5 inches of snow and cooler temperatures so we can now make snow at night. Pray for another storm or two. We’ll open as soon as conditions allow. Keep checking alta.com for updates." |

| October came in so strong its hard to believe we won't make the thursday opening. I'm bummed, but there's hope on the horizon. Looks like we may hit a cycle starting this weekend. |

| Oh geeze guys- I REALLY wanna ski on Thanksgiving but it's not lookin good. If I don't ski, I have to help cook ALL DAY instead of the hey-I'm-done-skiing-reheat-these-masterpieces-I-made-last-night thing I normally do. I love my extended family but... well... you know what I'm sayin. |

Doesn't look like any of us will be skiing on turkey day...

Sorry to hear about your snow problems. This is probably not fair, but I have to do it. It's a bit different here this year!
I would send you some snow if I could! Our lifts don't open until December as we are more of a destination resort and so an early opening before people have vacations is not financially advantagous, however, there is some great touring right out the back door
I am sure the situation there will improve quickly, Alta being Alta, and you will be killing me all winter with photos of deep powder shots again!

Update from Alta.com just posted:
| Quote: | | Alta opens Friday, November 30, at 9:15 am! Traditionally Alta opens with more snow than we have today. Mother Nature hasn't given us much snow lately, but the tireless efforts of our snowmaking, grooming and mountain crews have us ready to open this Friday, November 30, with the Collins and Sunnyside detachable lifts. |

Thanks for the update... ironically enough, I'll be starting my season at Whistler rather than in Utah next week, thanks to a long business trip. As it looks right now, i'm gonna get in 4 days up there AND still get my work done... not too bad, eh?
This will be the first winter I won't get my first tracks of the season in Utah since I moved out to Las Vegas... kinda strange feeling... i'm getting teary-eyed... ok i'm better now. Whistler can do that to a person. lol |
