In fact, Mountain Hardwear gave these shorts a mix of cotton and nylon fabric so the Voyagers feel soft and remain durable throughout hikes and trips downtown. The UPF 50-rated fabric blocks harmful rays, and an inseam gusset gives a little extra room.
